What is SEO?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is a process or utilization of techniques to improve the search engine rankings of a website. SEO is used to enhance the business through an online medium such as social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and Search Engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, etc.). With the help of SEO, most companies tend to achieve long-term, stable and increasing business goals.
Types of SEO
There are 3 major types of SEO:
- White Hat SEO
- Black Hat SEO
- Gray Hat SEO
1) White Hat SEO:
White hat SEO is a process of ranking websites on search engines, that most of the search engines likes (Mostly Google). One of the types of SEO, the white hat SEO is considered to be the most favorable SEO practice according to Google. In this technique, SEO Practitioner follows all the Search Engine’s guidelines to rank a website. Most of the guidelines are according to Google recommendations.
This technique includes high-quality content development and optimization, Onpage optimization, high-quality link acquisition, and some manual research and outreach.
This technique will rank a website slowly with long term stability.
2) Black Hat SEO:
Black hat SEO is a process of ranking websites on Search Engines by finding the loopholes in the algorithm of search engines. This type of SEO technique is not a favorite of search engines and is banned from them. In Black Hat SEO, the practitioner uses some techniques such as spam linking, keyword stuffing, cloaking, hidden text, and hidden links, etc. In this technique, rankings will be prompt and the website will get instantly. But this rankings will be for very short terms as long as Google crawls a website.
This type of technique is banned from Google and the websites using Black Hat SEO may get penalized from Google.
3) Gray Hat SEO:
Gray Hat SEO comes into being due to higher pressure of employers or clients to rank their websites fast on Search Engines. In this type of SEO technique, Practitioner uses some part of White Hat SEO and Some part of Black Hat SEO techniques. This SEO type is also not favorable from Google and is banned.
Common Things in All Types of SEO:
There are a few common things in all types of SEO:
- On-Page SEO
- Off-Page SEO
On-page SEO is a process of optimization of websites within the websites. For simple understanding, anything you do or any changes you make inside the website, that will publish along with the website is On-Page optimization.
In this technique mostly activities include keywords adjustment in the right quantity, URL optimization, Meta Tags, Meta Description, Internal Linking, Alt attributes, website speed and most importantly providing users quality content.
Off-Page SEO is a process of optimizing websites outside the website. The simple understanding is anything you do or any changes you make outside the website to improve website rankings is Off-Page SEO. This part of SEO does not publish along with the website and is not visible to the end-user/reader.
In this technique primary activities include comment posting, sharing content on social media, link building, classified promotion, social bookmarking and most important is promoting on Business directories.
